Santa Spoon

From the new WCI 29 Holiday Projects (I think pg 61). I got this Paula Dean spoon at Walmart a couple of weeks ago, so I thought I would try it out. It took a couple of hours, but I think it turned out ok.

Well, I did ok, but I entered in the intermediate division, and there was no competition as most every one was in the novice or open category. I will, hereafter enter in the open category.

Carving Show

Well, this morning I took 4 of my carvings to Lexington, NC for the Davidson County WoodCarvers Assoc. Wood Carving Show. I have never tried to compete in a carving show before, but I figured that I had these 4 pieces (Basketball player, Little Red-Haired Girl, Book Worm and a Santa ornament) that I have not yet delivered, so this was an ideal time.

The judging is tomorrow, so I will post how I do then.

Mostly finished!

Ok. This project is nearly finished. I still need to finish the book, and glue it in place. I asked my friends at WCI about the glasses and got some good feedback. Also, painting the worm green was something I struggled with; I really think it turned out ok.

My Current Project

This is what I am working on right now. It is a bookworm for the daughter of my receptionist. She is coming out of the top of a mahogany book and she is holding a little book that says,"Live life, Laugh lots, Love forever."

My First Entry

Well this is my first REAL try at blogging. I am glad that my lovely daughter suggested it. I will post more later!
